Novato woman arraigned today in Marin County Superior Court for allegedly embezzling over $200K form interior design company

A Novato woman was charged with embezzling an estimated $210,000 from an interior design company in Corte Madera, authorities said.

Sanaz Banihashemi, 30, could face up to eight years in prison on charges of embezzlement, forgery and fraud, plus penalty enhancements related to white-collar crimes, said Deputy District Attorney Tom Brown.

Banihashemi is accused of stealing the money between October 2007 and last July, when she worked as bookkeeper and office manager for Kaleidoscope Designs Inc., Twin Cities police Detective Cheryl Paris said Tuesday.
